The game freezes when I reach the cutscene that I saved the girl at Glyde's fortress. This really frustrates me because i've spent five hours on this game. Is this some sort of bug? Right after this cutscene.

Don't cheat.
Don't emulate.
Don't scratch the CD.
That's all I can say. Are you using a cheating device? Are you using an emulator? If so, these can cause the game to freeze. If your playing it on a console, try cleaning the disc, or using a separate Playstation if you have access to one.

I'm using no cheats whatsoever, my psone doesn't even have a communications port.

The first thing to check would be to see if your disk is scratched. Be sure to see if the disk is scratched on the top of the disk, you can do this by holding the disk by a light, just see if you can see any light going through the disk.
The other thing could be your PSONE. Dispite Danny hating emulators, I would encourage trying it on one. EPSXE 1.6 is the best one. It is legal to use a emulator if you dump the BIOS from your existing PSONE(if you dont have a communications port I dont know if you can do this though). One other thing about playing MML on an emulator is that you can get really high quality graphics and sound, and makes it much funner to play. If you feel guilty using an emulator then just use it for testing purposes.
I think that your disk is scratched. My first copy of MML2 that I bought was scratched. It would freeze in spots. One time it actually played MegaMan's and Roll's voices from Microsoft Sam (the default microsoft text to speech voice).

I've also had a weird bug with the cd, when I tap my playstation at the cutscene where it has frozen up it plays all the speech files! When I press start it goes to the next file.

Haha, Yah it was funny. When Roll was talking it was really high pitched, like when you turn the voice pitch up. This has lead me to believe that they must have used some kind of text to speech for their voices when they made the game.

Yeah, it really pisses me off when I go to farm some money for weapon upgrades at the Golden Bird, but then I pause it for a bit and come back, or pause really quick to scratch my nose or sneeze or something and it freezes when I come back.
I think I've lost several hours overally, with the longest session being an hour straight of farming the Golden Bird.
Nowadays I just gameshark. I've done it once so I don't need to do it again.

I never had any problems with mine either but i once heard that if you use mayonaisse (yes mayo) and put it on the on the scratches or an the scrathed sides and let it dry and wipe it off so as to not get mayo all over it it will fix it!!
I do not ecourage this method but if you have a game to test this theory on then do it!!!

oh ho ho ho. This topic's a couple years old, but I must make a statement.
Using the above disk cleaning method involving mayonnaise MIGHT get rid of the scratches... but itll mess up the DATA while fixing the scratches. You're better off having a scratched disk with data, than a 100% useless "unscratched" disk.
