To be quite blunt, I am disappoint. The way I see it, they're going overboard with "fan development", and Legends 3 is going to be disastrous. Not just because of "fan development", but because they're way, way overthinking this and putting in far too much unecessary crap. "Aero" or "Sephira" or whatever the hell they're calling her this week is, more likely than not, going to end up being a useless, whiny Mary-Sue who robs the main characters of a good chunk of the spotlight; whom all of us "old fans" will loathe and all of the new bandwagoners will luuurv.
Capcom's recent atrocious failures do not fill me with confidence, either. Look at Resident Evil 5. Look at what they're doing to Devil May Cry. LOOK AT IT. Maybe it was caused by Inafune's imbecilic WE MUST WESTERNIZE idea spreading to the rest of Capcom, or maybe Capcom was the one who infected him; I don't know and I really don't care. All I know is they've been completely raping their best serii (serieses?) as of late, and it does not bode well for the Megaman franchise in general. I will be OVERJOYED if I'm proved to be a raving lunatic and MML3 turns out fine, but I really doubt that's going to happen, given Capcom's latest abominations.
/rant
I still harbor the theory that Inafune ragequit Capcom because someone had a half of a brain and wouldn't let him redesign Trigger into a smoking space marine.

Way to overexaggerate.... EVERYTHING... in that post.
And completely misrepresent everything that's going on in the Dev Room. Have you even been there in the last 3 months?

Nope Too busy ranting and raging. I don't mean to be an ass, but, what do RE5 and DmC have to do with the Legends 3 devroom? I was expressing my loathing for Capcom's screwups in general, not just the devroom's. And before anyone goes off with the usual "but Ninja Theory's making DmC, not Capcom"; Capcom green-lit the project and approved the hideous redesign for the series. Ninja Theory might be making it worse, but Capcom's the party that got it started.

Hm, it's a bit early to say exactly if the Devroom will be 'disasterious', isn't it? I mean, currently, the devroom in a bit of a hiatus due to Japan's whole earthquake/tsunami/nuclear meltdown tragedy, but from before that, all the contests and the general positive feedback from the Megaman fan community seemed to indicate that the 'project' was coming along just fine so far. As for Aero...well, it may be too early to tell, but based on various snippets of story bits we've been getting it seems like she's just a minor/secondary character the Devroom is focusing on as a means to run several of their topics (script, 3D modelling, etc.).
Really? : o I got the opposite impression, or at least one where it was Inafune that was trying to keep the Legends series to its roots.

Aero is classified as a "heroine" and she's been verified as a spotter for an unknown digger. It makes me think she's going to have roughly the same amout of importance (or slightly less) as Tron.
Also, don't be too quick to criticize Inafune. He just went and founded two new companies and he's the CEO. One's a gaming company and another is a company which accomodates entertainment through other media without involving games. Makes me think it's like those sourcebook companies that make after-market products to supplement games.
And it's not Inafune's fault that Capcom degraded him to the point where he frequently shifts between a spokesperson and a pinata.

I couldn't care less about whatever Capcom's painting him the villain over this week. What I care about is he pretty much said every non-Western produced game is shit; and the only way Japanese games can survive is if they all become cookie-cutter clones of Halo and Call of Duty. That's what I have a problem with.

SIMSteven: I'm thinking they're using the word 'heroine' in the sense that she's an ally character with a somewhat significant role in the plot, and not strictly for its literal meaning. 'Spotter for an unknown digger' doesn't sound like a very major role- imagine Roll, but with less prominence. That's the kind of implication that has, doesn't it? And yeah, I agree with SIM here re: Inafune- Capcom really wore the guy down with their terrible employee treatment. I'm sure we've all said things we'd regret saying later, or at least not mean as strongly as when we said it.

That's what I have a problem with. Way to completely twist his words to exactly the opposite of what he meant. Start here for reference: www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=411847He says BOTH sides of game development have their share of problems. He even goes to lengths to point out that Japan has more problems overall with how they run their businesses in general (and not just Capcom). He practically codemned Japan's business practices in a general sense but he had lots of good and bad to say about both regions. Oh..... and taken straight from the interview.... "Heroine" has now been defined as "on the same level as Roll or Tron." In other words, she's going to be in another 'family' of diggers just like the Casketts or Bonnes. She's going to play the role of a spotter in that family.

@sim: Ah, my mistake then. To be honest it's kind of hard to keep up in the forums there, especially if you visit somewhat infrequently. You wouldn't happen to have a link or two to those handy, would you? Hm, also interesting how there'll be a new family thrown into that mix. I wonder how that'll affect their dynamics, in the sense of interaction during the story? : o
