Yuck. Assuming this is in a certain order, the whole thing is ridiculous. The only slightly redeeming factor is that they placed Half Life 2 at the second place. I would have forgiven them completely if they had made it number one. Shadow of the Colossus was great, even top ten great, but definitely not the best game of the entire decade.

Skies of Arcadia should at least be in the top ten. That is all.

Vagrant Story needs to be higher on the list. Much, much higher than any of the Final Fantasy games. I'm also quite suprised that FF9 is on there and FF10 is not.
I also agree that the list is quite ridiculous.

That's because FFX was mediocore and FF9 was amazing. B)

What about ffvii? That game was amazing! Or was it not made in the last decade?

Yeah, FFVII was made in the 1990's. Personally, I agree and disagree with the list. I think that HL2 did not deserve the 2nd spot, it definetly should have been higher up on the list. I don't see what everyone loves about it. This list also backs up my reasons to get Valkyria Chronicles.

What are Valkyria Chronicles? I'm surprised Cod or Halo aren't on here too... I also loved "Star Ocean: Till the End of Time," anyone else ever played that?

Anyways, I agree that the list is definitely biased. Portal is #4 and HL2 is #2. I'm pretty sure those two are made by the same company since the games are supposed to be in the same universe.

Yeah, I know how the list is ordered. I meant that it should be as high on the list as it is, in my opinion.

They're both at the top because they deserve to be, not because the list is biased. They're both unique and innovative games that earned universal praise. They are two of the best games of the decade. Oh, and they are in the same universe, but they're also unrelated and completely different. You don't see Half Life 2 Episode 1 or 2 in the top ten, or on the list at all, do you? Valve's other popular games, Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead are both high up on the list. And Snake, people loved Half Life 2 for it's great gameplay, storytelling and characters. I have come to understand that you are opposed to these things, so your comment doesn't surprise me.

I hate story developing and story telling? I got one videogame series for you, METAL GEAR SOLID. I've played the four games, and watched these characters develop in one of the most emersive storylines I've played. I grew to love the characters for God's sake! In Metal Gear Solid 4, when Sunny asked, "Otacon, are we ever going to see Snake again?" I bawled my eyes out. That's the first time a videogame has made me cry! As for storytelling, I sat through the 30+ minute cutscenes, and loved them, they resolved conflicts from past events. As for the gameplay, I've replayed the game over 5 times, collected almost everything, and loved it just as much as when I played it the first time. When I played Half Life 2, it was kinda dry. Sure, you get some action, but there were long periods of boring nothingness. The storytelling was all in game voices, where you could easily just walk away and not listen to them. There were like 2 cutscenes, one at the beginning, and one at the end. I never really cared for the characters either, I felt like they were just there to fill in the holes. No one really had a personality, except Alyx, with her bad jokes. They didn'y really sevelop much either, which is one of my favorite parts of the game. Oh, and didn't you promise me you'd finish Bioshock when I finished Episode 2?And now we're on the subject of Bioshock! A game with so much story that everyone I know couldn't finish it! but I did, and it was one of my favorite titles for the 360! I loved to fight the Big Daddies, and there was always something to do in the game.

Your problem is that you seem to value cutscenes more than gameplay. Of course a game like Metal Gear Solid 4, which itself is nothing more than a platform for delivering cutscenes, has more plot development than a game like Half Life 2. You mentioned that all plot development in the HL games comes through characters speaking to you or each other. I'm sorry that a game has to hold your fucking hand and say, "LOOK, YOU SHOULD BE WATCHING THIS." for you to pay attention, but that doesn't mean the Half Life method is any less immersive. You're not just passively watching a scene, you're actively involved in it.
As I was saying before about MGS4, a game that wastes my money and time by forcing me to sit there and just watch it for thirty minutes had better have some serious development going on to make it worthwhile. I would much rather spend twenty minutes driving down a desolate, ruined highway, taking in the reality of a familiar world ravaged by the Combine than sit by and watch two characters have a long-winded discussion.
You claim that Half Life characters have no personality, which is ridiculous, but from the MGS4 scenes that I've watched online, I just see a lot of emotionless talking heads sitting around spewing more and more meaningless crap. The Half Life characters have personality, emotion, and motivations. Metal Gear Solid characters just talk and talk and talk, and that gives them personality? Pfft.
