Ok so I had a question about the popular xbox 360, this system looks really neat to me and there are some very sweet games I'd love to have that come on it. So my question is, are there really tons of problems with them? Do they really break for just no apparent reason? And what about this "red ring of death" that I've heard about?
I'm trying to make sure I spend my money wisely because if I buy a 360 I'll have no money left and be flat out broke most likely.

They suck. They suck. They suck.
I hate my Xbox. There are times where I wish I could throw it out of a window. Games will randomly crash for no reason all the time and every Box is basically guaranteed t die at some point. I've sent mine back once, and so have all of my friends. Some of them have had to send theirs back multiple times.
Oh, and let's not even talk about how Microsoft will try to take every last penny from you with their Xbox Live, DLC, and fucking avatars.
But the games, the GAMES. I like em'. There are so many good 360 exclusive titles that sort of make it worth putting up with that abominable piece of trash. Are they worth putting up with the bullshit? I think so. And not EVERY game is guaranteed to crash. There are probably like ten games in my collection that don't crash at all. Of course, the ones that crash are usually the big ones like Fallout 3 and GTA4, making every moment of fun in those games a double-edged sword. You will be enjoying them and all the while wondering when the fun will be snatched away from you before you can save your progress....
So, there's that.

Whoah! now that's seriously the kind of passionate response I'm looking for! Thank you 42! Yeah I know what you mean about the titles, there are a bunch that I want and that look absolutely amazing, like Halo 3, Lost Planet, Sonic the Hedgehog, and others!
I wonder why the box would suck sometimes, my original xbox basically never freezes or crashes. I'm not doubting you because I've heard the same kind of stuff, my friend said something about if you move the box around too much it might break 0_0
A PS3 would be the other alternative, but it doesn't have games like Halo 3...

Yeah, the original was fine. I think the 360 is ultimately worth the crap, though.
When you say Sonic the Hedgehog, do you mean the one that came out in 2006? If so...stay away. Just stay far away from that game. I was an adamant fan of the Sonic series until that one. I even liked Sonic Heroes!
On the bright side, though, Halo 3 never crashes. So if that's the big game you want for the 360, you shouldn't have any problems there.

Yeah that's one of the bigs for me, I have halo 2, and the ending was really open so I can't wait to experience the 3rd. I wonder if I should get the first though too.... my problem is money. I have no job right now, and no large source of income (other than some odd jobs around the house) for over the winter. I already don't have enough money to buy a 360 yet, and still need to keep saving.
What version did you get? Like was it the memory card one? or the 20 gb one?

Ok, thank you very much for the information you've given me. I don't know if I'll ever get one or not, I don't have enough money as of right now.
