Nay, I read the whole post. You seemed to be the most upset about the 8-Bit, so I figured I'd focus on that for the first post.
You do realize that I made two other posts after that one, right?
MM8 was quite a departure from previous MM titles, both in art style and story.
At least they tried to do something different with that one.
True, but one could say that for almost every single video game/anime plot. "Bad Guy causes havoc, or is planning to. Good Guy, usually some damned "chosen one" has to go beat him up, traveling first through some epic quest. The world rejoices when the hero wins. Woohoo."
Most games try to mix things up in their sequels. MM hasn't lifted a finger to change anything in eight out of it's nine games. Wily's trying to take over the world. Fight eight robot masters. Stop Wily. Wait for Wily to start some shit so you can do it all again. Sure, there might be some other arbitrary thing that is going on, but in the end it doesn't matter because it always has the same result.
42, you miss the point. They risked a change from an already established formula - eight robot masters, all ending in "Man". They change that around, change one to "Woman", and it actually does have more impact than one would expect. Though, upon hearing "Splash Woman" I knew Capcom would make her a mermaid-bot. Capcom lacks originality in boss design.
They made a female character. That is not revolutionary. At least not for what the character is going to do. She is just going to do the exact same thing as the water bosses before her: fight MM, die, and give MM her power, so it might as well be a man for all the difference having a woman in that role is going to make. It could be a transvestite robot dog, and...well. That would probably be a little different.
True, the gameplay hasn't changed much, if at all, from previous Mega Man titles. But at least Capcom decided to vary the level designs. There are many new obstacles that have never been used before, as seen in the trailers and stage playthroughs. They even has the courtesy of creating plenty of new (some of which even look challenging, which is unusual) enemies and minibosses.
I just can't get excited about that because, despite all of the bells and whistles they're adding, at it's core, nothing will be that different. Change isn't bad after years and years of the same thing.
42, you are a most intelligent and resourceful debater
Thank...you?
(Half-Joking when I say this..) Perhaps we should start a MLU debate club. If we all argued on the same side, rather than each other, we could probably convince a few dozen Legends-haters (like Chris Hoffman, and the guy on youtube) to stop their bull****. Or at least we could make them look like fools in front of half the internet.
Sounds like a raid board. I like it.
