With the recent increase in members, there have been a few bad apples in the bunch. This topic is meant to provide the rules and regulations of the MMLU Message Board to make this place safe and secure. This topic will provide the ground rules and Terms of Service, so that there will be no doubt in anyone's mind what you can and cannot do. Also, this topic will remain locked, so that this topic will remain static and staff member operated only. If you wish to comment or debate these rules, please create another topic.
Rules and Regulations, however, are not meant to discourage posting. Most rules are based on common sense and state and national laws. Posting, in fact, is encouraged. These rule, in essence, are meant to keep a baseline so there is no question of right or wrong. Please abide by them accordingly.
Code RED // (Risk of expulsion: HIGH)
1) Witch Hunt: First and foremost, please note that you cannot make any false claims on what other members have and have not done. If you dislike a member for personal reasons, DO NOT, in any way, shape, or form, make a false claim that they have violated the Terms of Service as follows. Violating this rule can result in the loss of your own account. Please do not use these rules as a tool for revenge or otherwise. Judegement is not always easy on this rule. Therefore, judgement is loosely based on the reputation of the member. Therefore, please play it safe and try to get off on a good foot.
2) Sex-related: Sexual harrasment, talking dirty, or sexual passes will NOT be tolerated in any way, shape, or form. Please remeber that most of the members on this board are under the age of 18. Sex-related content are grounds for IMMEDIATE expulsion. Such content is in violation of several Federal laws, including Sexual Harrasment and Sex with a Minor.
Sex-related content will NOT be allowed, joke or otherwise. If you are unsure on what you wish to post, please refer to the post below. Also, links to pornographic material will not be permitted at any time. If you are being sexually assulted by another member, please inform the Administrator immediately.
3) Viruses and Trojans: This is really simple. If you post a link that leads to a site that contains a virus of ANY form, you'll be banned with no questions asked. Downloads are fine as long as they don't contain malicious software. In other words, DON'T post a link to sites that contain viruses of any sort.
Code ORANGE // (Risk of expulsion: MEDIUM)
1) Threats and Abuse: Unnessesary verbal abuse and/or threats will not be permitted. If any member is threatening you, please inform a Moderator or Administrator IMMEDIATLY. If you feel that a member is trying to infringe upon your right to post freely or prevent you from enjoying the MMLU Message Board, contant any staff member. Violators will be sent a verbal warning. Repeated warnings result in a loss of membership.
Code YELLOW // (Risk of expulsion: LOW)
1) SPAM: Spam is defined as "Stupid, Pointless, Annoying Messages," annoying postage that adds no value to the topic or conversation at hand, or the advertisement of material unrelated to MegaMan Legends or similar topics. Spam is considered to be a post that has four words or less. The risk of expulsions is low. If repeated complaints by other members become common, there will be verbal warnings. Continued violation of this rule MAY result in the loss of membership. Also, double posting is easy to do. DO NOT double post. Instead, modify your old post and change it to add what you wanted to add.
Furthermore, I encourage you to put thought into your posting style. If you haven't got anything good to say, don't say anything at all. Basically, there are many simple examples of "nothing good to say." Agreeing with the poster above, saying "Thank you," "Sorry," "I don't get it," and various other phrases counts as spam. If you have anything to say in the previous statements, do it over PM, or add more to your post than those listed above.
However, don't be a pest. Most members would appreciate it if you didn't fill their inbox full of PM's. If you have a specific question to ask a specific member, do it over PM, though. This is more recommended than going off-topic.
Then, there's the additional concern of voting. If you're going to vote, for example, for a certain character that is your favorite character, don't say your vote with just a simple word or two. Say WHY you voted for the character. Again, I stress the reason to put thought in your answers, and letting the community know your reasons for why you voted for what you voted for. It's annoying to many members to simply say "Roll! Roll! Roll! Roll!" It's a pain to come into the topic for something so simple, and something so pointless, so it's better to avoid SPAM in this form as well.
Notify Feature: There is a feature of Proboards that allows you to be notified by e-mail of whenever a topic gets a new post. If you spam like crazy, a person's mail box is filled with notification e-mails. It gets very annoying and can easily make members leave the boards. It's also annoying to get the e-mail, come to the topic, and see that nothing has really been added to the topic. In other words, DON'T SPAM or you will make members angry, and also make the admins angry.
Additional definitions of spam is advertising other sites that have nothing to do with Legends. This does NOT include topics that lead to a fun animation or similar site. Also, selling products of any kind is considered spam.
Finally, as a helpful hint to avoid conflicts, keep subjects on their proper boards. For example, don't create a topic about MegaMan X on the General Board. Instead, put it on the MegaMan X board.
Code BLUE // (Risk of explusion: NONE)
Rules withing this section a common courtesy rules. They are NOT grounds of expulsion are are not rules that will give you a verbal warning or anything of the sort. These rules are simply moral rules that do not have to be followed, but are intented to keep the purity of the message board. Please do not fear prosecution if you violate these rules.
