It has been some time. In the back of my mind I always remember this place. Admittedly, it's probably one of the first places I made friends online. Made some good memories too. With Megaman X Dive getting released I suddenly got caught up in a wave of nostalgia and wanted to muster up the courage to come back here. I needed courage because I was afraid that this place would be dead... and it seems it is. Or rather... I do see a few remnants. SIMSteven is still poking around like the board's guardian angel. 42 hasn't been on in a year. Dia left a couple of years ago. Danny vanished in 2012... and I myself hadn't been around since a year before that. It's a pretty sobering experience. Dunno if anyone would still remember me, other than "that jerk that kept using red text on a blue background" but I remember lots from here. they were good memories. I'd like to catch up, even if it's not here, though I doubt anyone would be back to read this.
However... to those who linger
To those who love legends
To those who made friends here
Thank You.
Legends may be dead, but our memories never will. And for those memories, again, Thank You.
EDIT: Should any of the old gang want to contact me, or even some youngsters who want a fellow Legends nerd to chat with, my discord is Red#7972

Hello, Red! Thank you very much for posting here. It is really nice to read your post. I hope that you're doing well. There was a lot of time that had gone by before I returned to this place, too. Mega Man Legends Universe has always been in the back of my mind, too. I love this message board. This is probably one of the first message boards that I was a part of, too. I'm very glad you have good memories about this place. Thank you very much for mentioning Mega Man X Dive. This looks really cool. I completely understand nostalgia. Thank you very much for having the courage to come back here and post. I see you were afraid that this message board is dead. It does seem like all major activity has ceased. It does seem that sometimes there is some activity every once in a while. It looks like most people have left this message board. It is an interesting experience being here. I don't think you're a jerk for having red text on a blue background. I think your post is unique and I'm glad you came back. I'll remember you now. I remember a lot about this message board, too. I have good memories about this place, too. It has been nice reading some new posts every once in a while. I'm very glad there are some people that still come around here. I still love the Mega Man Legends series very much. Since I've loved the Mega Man Legends series for so long already it seems like I will always love it. Perhaps you're the same way also. Maybe there are others here that feel the same way I do. I'm sure there are. It was really nice being able to communicate with other people here that love the Mega Man Legends series back in the day. It's still really nice to be able to communicate with other people here now, too. Thank you very much for all of the positive things you said in your post. I'm very glad we will always have the Mega Man Legends series to enjoy. I'm also very glad we have good memories about this place, too. Thank you very much for your positive post and for continuing to make good memories, Red. Good luck with everything in life. Good luck to everyone reading this post, too. Take care. Well thanks for replying Yuna, it's good to see some life still here. I wonder if people just migrated to Megaman Legends Station since it was always the bigger site, but I dunno... I could never feel right about abandoning the good ole Universe, sentimental old fool that I am.

Hey there, Red! Absolutely. It is nice to see some activity here again. I'm very glad. I imagine at least some people from here did probably go over to Mega Man Legends Station. I like both Mega Man Legends Universe and Mega Man Legends Station. I just love all things Mega Man Legends series to be honest with you. It does feel very nice to be back here again. I don't think you're a sentimental, old fool. I think that we both can enjoy this message board still for what it is along with everyone else that wants to still be here. It's fun to read what has been written here even if there isn't too much activity going on. I think this place is very cool. I'm very glad this message board is still around. I think it's incredible that after all of these years it's still online. I hope you're doing well. I'm glad to see you're here. Please continue to post if you feel like it. It is really nice to have an active thread to post in. I hope you still enjoy the Mega Man Legends series. I hope you have a wonderful day and I also hope you have an amazing week. Take care. Please feel free to post here, everyone! If you're reading this post and you'd like to contribute to this thread it would be really nice to talk to you! I hope everyone is doing really well and that everyone has an awesome day and a fantastic week. Take care, everyone!

You and I seem to be of the same mind, though admittedly it seems pointless to just keep using the forum just to talk to one other person. I'd love to talk about Legends with someone again though. Most of the friends I've met since here either never heard of it or are only familiar with the Classic and X series. I've actually started replaying Legends lately (got covid despite my best efforts and am stuck at home) I just beat Legends 1 and am starting Misadventures of Tron Bonne again. It's a nice little journey. And as I said before, I've also picked up Megaman X Dive, which despite the name includes characters from all across the franchise, including Legends. Most surprising one of the characters is Megaman Volnutt Alternative Memory, a version of Megaman Volnutt where he made all the evil choices that darken his armor like destroying vending machines, stealing bank money, shooting down news airships, etc. Really shows that the people making it really care about even weird references like that.

Hey there, Red. I like this place and I enjoy posting here even if there are few active people. I still have fun with this thread even if you and I have been the only people posting in it so far. I still love talking about the Mega Man Legends series. It does seem that Mega Man and Mega Man X are very popular video game series. I think they are both very cool. I personally do like the Mega Man Legends series the most. I hope that you enjoy all of the Mega Man Legends games whenever you play them. I wish you the very best health. Stay safe and stay healthy. Good luck with everything. I love it when there is a reference to the Mega Man Legends series. Take care.

Yeah, I love this place too, even if it's just you and me here. I finished Misadventures of Tron Bonne and am starting Legends 2 again. Maybe it's partially nostalgia but it seems as good as the first time I played it. I tend to forget it was only a PS1 game since the animation seems on par with some PS2 stuff. I remember way back when I had extracted a lot of the graphics and was making my own scenes for a comic and a fangame, but never got it off the ground... real life got in the way a lot. ^^; But hey, now I get to play with your namesake~

Hello, Red. It's nice to read your post. Thanks for creating this thread. It's fun to read something new here and it's nice talking about the Mega Man Legends series. It's so much fun replaying a good game. There is rarely any posting going on so it's fun having something to do here. I love comic books. I love the nostalgia that the Mega Man Legends series gives me. I'm really glad you enjoy these games, too. Yeah I know what you mean these games are really amazing every time I play them, too. I love PS1 graphics to be honest with you. I love PS2 graphics, too. I do think how Mega Man Legends series games look is just really cool. I love their gameplay, too. I think if you worked on making a game that would be fun. I think you have good taste in games so it sounds like you've had some fun gaming experiences. I hope you continue to have fun. I see you got busy with things but creation can be amazing. If you want to create something good luck. I think Yuna is cool along with so many other awesome characters! Anyway, I hope you're doing well, Red. Take care, Red. Take care, everyone!

I know what you mean. Everything about how Legends was constructed is special. Though I don't remember going through L2 so quickly before... I'm already at the 4th key. Still nice to go through it again though. I always liked the attention to detail when you go into the NPC homes and how most of the NPCs have unique character models.
If you like comics, have you read the Megaman comics from archie? I don't know how you feel about the Classic series but it was really good, but it was cancelled before they could get to Megaman 4. At least in the last issue they acknowledged Legends for a page.

Hey there, Red. Its been nice reading your new posts lately. Thank you very much for continuing to post in your thread. I think that the Mega Man Legends series is very special, too. It's so different than the other Mega Man series. I love that the Mega Man Legends series was made and that we will always have that now. There's always that first experience you have with a game when you're playing it for the first time. Then there's also that fun experience you get to have whenever you go back and replay that game. Once you know how the game is played, what you're doing, where to go, what the plot is and you've beaten it before it seems to change your experience at least a little bit if you play it again. I'm glad you have fun when you're going through the Mega Man Legends series games again. These are some of my favorite games of all time. They are very unique. Yeah I agree that in the Mega Man Legends series going into the different homes and structures is so much fun. I love the dialogue that these games have. I think that the characters are all very unique, too. Yeah I love comic books! I do know about the Mega Man comic books and I have some of them. I never seriously collected the Mega Man comic books yet but I have read some of them just for fun and I do enjoy them. I like the classic Mega Man series. Do you like the classic Mega Man series, Red? It seems like you do. Whenever there is a Mega Man Legends series reference I just think it is so much fun. Now that you've mentioned the Mega Man comic book series it has made me want to look into it again. I've enjoyed the recent activity here so its been nice to me to read this thread. Anyway, I hope you're doing well, Red. I really like the picture that you included in your last post! I think it's very cool. The Mega Man Legends series will always have a very special place in my heart. I'm sure it's the same way for everyone else reading this post, too. I think it's awesome that this game series still means so much to us after all of these years. Stay safe everyone. Take care.

I'm glad i can at least entertain you by lingering here. I just beat Legends 2 now. Got all the weapons and even got the S class Diggers License. The test was much harder than I remember... But now, I'm right back where I was since the story stops here. I always wanted to continue it as a fan game but the major issue there is no one knows what was going to happen next. We know absolutely nothing about the Elder System or why it's such a threat because we were given no explanation. I have my theories of course, but they are just that, theories. They are most likely nothing like Keiji Inafune planned for Legends 3 and from how that whole fiasco ended I doubt we will ever get any answers. Even Red Ash just kind of disappeared after a lot of sketchy stuff went down with it's development.

Then allow me to step in and answer that as best as I can.
So the Elder System is most likely remnants of old wars that were repurposed to be a beta version of the Carbon Reinitialization Program. Rather than send a satellite pod down to an island to wipe out the Carbons, they most likely came up from underground. It's most likely just all the Reaverbots we see in ruins.
We mostly know what it is due to games from other series being developed around the same time. MMZ had the same ruins popping in underground, which are believed to be ruins from the Maverick Wars. There were also the Fairy Wars that were talked about in MMZ which supposedly happened in between MMX and MMZ. And then there were references to Elysium being built in MMX8, which was simply the moon being recolonized and ultimately where Sigma finally died due to not being able to possess another Reploid after being defeated there (and then they brought the Fairy there later to ultimately wipe him out for good).
I believe there were more references in MMZX but I haven't yet finished those games. But we do have a fairly good grasp of what the Elder System is, just not about if there are any definitive leaders or whatever or if it's just a mass of uncontrolled Reaverbots, similar to a Resident Evil zombie horde.

Oh hey, I was wondering if you were ever going to chime in. Good to hear from you once more SIMSteven.
I can't really agree with the Elder system just being a beta Carbon Reinitialization Program because I worked backwards from the idea of "The Master system was made to replace the Elder System, so what had to go wrong with the Elder system to necessitate a system specifically for caring for Humans/the last Human?" The Master system still has a Carbon Reinitialization Program so it's likely that that had nothing to do with it since if the Elder System was just another Carbon Reinitialization Program then it most likely wouldn't be different enough to require a whole new system to replace it. In the japanese script the Elder System was actually called the World System which is fitting since it is a system that stretches across the entire planet, the various ruins being directly connected to it. But it also lead me to believe that the Elder System was created as a way to protect the world. If the humans left a Unit in charge of the system, which they most likely did since it seems that in creating their Utopic civilazion of near immortality and stress-free life they left the actual work to their creations, said Unit would have probably taken "Protect the World" too literally, and determined that the greatest threat to the world itself would be the humans. Said Unit/Elder System would then begin attacking Humans to save the world, possibly predicting a world ending event like, say, a global flood, but was eventually sealed away, most likely by Purifier Units or the Mother Units if they were created at the time. This would also explain how, even though humans had achieved immortality so long as they stayed on Elysium there was only ONE left in Megaman's memories. Maybe there were others but I can't say they ALL came to the same conclusion as the Master and all just went to Terra to die, though maybe some went down there for thrill seeking and met untimely ends, but again, lack of information there.
With the Elder System Sealed the remaining humans would make a new system specifically tailored to safeguarding them so it wouldn't rise up against them like the Elder system did. Unfortunately just because Elder System became genocidal it doesn't mean it was wrong and the planet becomes flooded, though since the Humans all live in Elysium they are unaffected and thus don't really care too much. Previous games play into this too, but not as much as you think. If records from previous eras existed then the actions of Sigma, Dr. Weil, and Albert and Thomas from the X, Zero, and ZX series would have factored in to the Elder Systems decision that Humans (or rather, sentient life that is dominant on the planet since by ZX there is no longer a difference between Humans and Reploids) are consistently putting the planet in danger. The X series implies that there aren't many records left over from the Classic series, but X2 and X6 also heavily imply that Wily lived on by uploading his brain into a robot body and eventually became the reploids Serges and Isoc and at some point returned to cause more chaos and thus also factored into this decision.
As for taking clues from other series... I can't really agree with that either. Sure, X or Zero (I forget which) mention wanting to create a utopia called Elysium and it was possibly taking root with the recolonization of the moon in X8, but that just tells us the origin of Elysium itself, not the Elder System, especially since there was no system in place in Zero or ZX aside from "Retire anyone who is Maverick" which, with the destruction of the Maverick Virus during the Elf/Fairy Wars prior to Zero, became corrupted into "Kill everyone who goes against humans". It could be said that that IS the Elder System with it considering Humans themselves to be Mavericks in my theory, but it is quite a stretch. And in Zero itself the only connection we have to Legends is Ciel wanting to create a new energy source which for the longest time we thought may have been referencing Quantum Refractors, but that never got confirmed and 100 years later in ZX there are no Refractors shown, though it can be easily said that she DID create Refractors and they just aren't prominent in the games. MAYBE we could have gotten something in ZX3 but that seems as likely to happen as Legends 3 at this point... Though I do have a separate theory that Purifier Units are programmed with the combat data from leftover Biometals/Live Metals, but that's just my own fanwankery and has nothing to do with what we're talking about.
This also brings up the question of what purpose reaverbots serve. They are clearly ONLY designed for combat so they couldn't have had some other purpose like construction, mining, or the like. Even the one friendly Reaverbot, the Mandomantal at the bottom of the Nino ruins, is shown to have combat capabilities if you attack it enough. I once teased the idea that they may be the Jailers of the Elder System and them attacking Diggers and Carbons is actually them trying to keep them AWAY from the Elder System, but their presence on Elysium removes that theory since you wouldn't have jailers away from the jail. Though it could be said that Reaverbots predated the Elder System's sealing and were just repurposed into being jailers. It's also easy to say that Reaverbots DID have a nonviolent function originally and in the Elder System's uprising it repurposed them for the ensuing genocide, them just being leftover after it was sealed.
You may also be thinking "But Red, if you don't think the Elder system is a Carbon Reintilization Program, then why is it reactivating a problem? It wanted to destroy humans save the world so it wouldn't be a danger to Carbons." And to that I say, Carbons have just as much potential as actual Humans. It would be easy for the Elder System to rationalize that Carbons will, eventually, follow in the footsteps of their Human creators and become advanced enough to seek a long lived life of ease and comfort, and in doing so neglect the planet enough to allow yet another world ending event, and with the state of Terra in the Legends series it is highly unlikely that the planet will survive one more. Sure, such an event would be hundreds or thousands of years away but the Elder System is programmed to stop it no matter what, and the best way to stop something is to nip it in the bud as soon as possible.
In summation: Elder/World System was created to protect the World > Elder System decides Humans are the biggest threat to the World > Elder System attacks Humans > Elder System gets sealed > Master System is created to protect Humans specifically
But still, all of these are just theories. Even the part about the flood happening AFTER the Elder System was sealed is pure speculation since we don't have a good timeline of events between ZX Advent and Legends 1. Sure, I think it makes perfect sense, but that doesn't mean Inafune or Capcom didn't have a completely different idea instead. And from what little we saw of the development of Legends 3, things were still relatively peaceful in the wake of the Elder System coming back online. Reaverbots weren't streaming out of the ruins and swarming nearby cities nor was any sort of Carbon Reinitilization going on. Though again, one could argue things were still relatively peaceful because the Elder System was still "Waking up."
Sorry, that was quite a ramble but like I said, don't really have chances to bounce ideas around like this. What do you guys think?

Hey there, Red! It sounds like you've been having fun which is good. Its been nice that you've been recently active. I do remember the test you are talking about. From what I recall it's a fun challenge! I love retro games. I just love games from the past. These kind of games are very special to me. I think Playstation 1 games are very cool. I really enjoy playing a good, retro game. I think "Red Ash" would have been interesting. As for the Mega Man Legends series I personally like how things were left off and how the games are overall. I can't say I know much about what's behind what you are talking about. It seems like SIMSteven has a good grasp on things. I hope you continue to have fun gaming! Hello, SIMSteven! Thank you very much for posting here, too! It's nice to see someone else posting in this thread! I have been enjoying this thread lately and the activity in it has been fun for me. I'm glad to see that this place now has a current, active thread going on again which I think is very cool. I hope you're doing well, too. It seems like you really love Mega Man games from other Mega Man series and not just the Mega Man Legends series which I think is really neat. I like how you posted about Sigma and other games from different Mega Man series. This place was a lot of fun back in the day and I'm so glad to see it's still around and that we can all still post here! I think that this thread has been a lot of fun so far. I'm happy to see current activity going on here in this thread. Personally I think everything about the Mega Man Legends series is really awesome. I like how there is really good artwork for it. Even if someone isn't currently playing through a Mega Man Legends series game someone can still enjoy going through artwork from the series. I just love the music too from these games. I think the soundtracks are just amazing. I'm so thankful that we all can have these games and experiences in our lives. I really feel like the Mega Man Legends series games were really positive, life changing experiences to have in life. I think it's so cool to see just how much this series means to all of us and I think this place is one example of how much of an impact it had on all of us! Thankfully I have good memories about the past playing these special games. It seems like others do here as well of course. I'm very glad. It seems there is a lot of information about the Mega Man Legends series games and knowing more about these games I think is cool. I wish I knew more about the Mega Man Legends series games but I still love them very much with my current knowledge about them. Thank you very much for your post, SIMSteven. It is a lot of fun to read. I think being here is nice and I'm glad to see we all still care about the Mega Man Legends series after all of these years. This place has brought a lot of enjoyment in the past and I think it's nice to see we're still enjoying it now. Red, thank you very much for your post. I hope you're doing well. I imagine you like the classic Mega Man series, too. The Mega Man comic books are fun and recently looking into them again has been nice. Take care. SIMSteven, thank you very much for posting here, too. I hope you're doing well. It's really nice to read your post. I'm glad we have this thread to post in! Thank you very much for the information you provided in your post. Take care. I hope everyone reading this post is doing well. I hope everyone reading this post has a wonderful day and an amazing weekend, too! Stay safe everyone. Take care. Edited, additional information: Hey there, Red! It looks like we were writing a post at the same time. This post was initially intended to be posed after SIMSteven's last post. I didn't realize your post would be next and then mine. After reading your post I hope mine doesn't seem out of place since it now might seem a bit out of order. I hope it's still acceptable in its current form. I suppose my understanding of the Mega Man Legends series might be more basic but I do love all of these games very much still! Take care everyone!

Yes, going by the screenshot that's the test. It wouldn't be so hard if I could bring my regular equipment but since you're locked into only an unupgraded buster it takes WAY too long to destroy all of the reaverbots in only 5 minutes for the S rank test. Especially when a good chunk of them are Gorubesshus with no way of getting rid of their shields...
Also Yuna, you keep saying "back in the day' but your account was made recently. Did you have a different name in the past? I just want to know if I knew you from before. Also you posted your last message pretty close to mine so I'm not sure if you read my own theory on the Elder System. Just thought I'd mention it.
